Don't Hate The Player, Hate the Game.

The other day at my local Wal-Mart one of those "Haters" tried to intentionally damage my car. No damage was done, but I have to say, "Don't Hate!" The type of car it is is unimportant, the house I live in is also unimportant. I own my own Online Travel Agent business an I live in a Small Business owners world. That means that I walk the walk, talk the talk, and live the life. Don't Hate!

I tell everyone who wants to start their own online travel business how to start and run their own business. This blog is syndicated in over 200 directories and RSS feeds. What I do, and how I do is is not a secret. I get paid to travel , and have friends and collegues on literally every continent. I am accessible through this blog, Twitter, Yahoo Chat, MSN Chat, and Skype. I have home pages On Myspace, Facebook, Blackplanet, Direct Matches and many others. My life is an open book. If you're not happy with your life, CHANGE IT!

I would be the first to tell you that the economy BITES! I have been laid off, downsized, right sized, outsourced to India, and fired by one department and hired by another so I understand. But I also understand that there is money in Internet Marketing regardless of what business that you choose provided you do your homework first. Travel is a 7 Billion dollar industry. sure they have their economic challenges like everyone else. As an Internet Marketer you have the option of adding as many Income Streams as you choose. No one can tell you not to do work for others at your desk, if you own the desk!

Enough preaching. Am I angry with whoever tried to damage my car ? No, I realize that's another person unhappy with where they are in life and choosing to do nothing about it. My mission, To boldly go where few Travelers have gone, to seek out new peoples, and party with them. "Don't Hate The Player, Hate The Game."

I like the way Anne Rice put it, "No matter how long we exist, we have our memories. Points in time which time itself cannot erase. Suffering may distort my backward glances, but even to suffering, some memories will yield nothing of their beauty or their splendor. Rather they remain as hard as gems."

Rice addresses the issue of how the memory of our lives and loved ones is often indestructible . How our memories do not erode with time or are forgotten under the waves of life. Rather some memories are like fine gems, Hard Stones or precious metals tempered by fire. They are forever with us. Even the healing powers of time have no effect on a happy memory, while bad memories are often erased by the heart over time .

If Love, and Life are more comfortable the second time around, then why not say the same of travel?

Perhaps it's because I'm a bit road-weary at the moment, or I've had one too many overpriced, under flavored meals outside one type of terminal or another. But recently I've found the prospect of repeat trips to favorite destinations appealing, even preferable to striking out to find new territory, sights, sounds and smells. Often, on repeat trips, I am Welcomed Home ! There's no better feeling on Vacation!

Travel Agents Attend Seminar In St Kitts To Boost Tourism

By Oscar Ramjeet
Caribbean Net News Special Correspondent

BASSETERRE, St Kitts -- As St Kitts and Nevis prepares for general elections, the St Kitts Tourism Authority and the Nevis Tourism Authority have organized a ‘Two-Islands-One Paradise’ destination travel agents seminar, attended by 40 travel agents from key locations in Canada and the United States.

The seminar got underway on Wednesday and will end on Sunday, and in which the participants will take part in training workshops, networking sessions, inspection of properties, an exploration of the sister island of Nevis and leisure activities for the travel agents to experience the tourism product of the Federation.

The Chief Executive Officer of the St Kitts Tourism Authority, Rosecita Jeffers said that symposium is an important event in marketing the destination and in ensuring that the North American travel agent community is familiarized with St Kitts and Nevis.

Top producing travel agents from key locations in North America are attending the seminar, which will symbolize the country's commitment to continuous destination awareness and marketing during these difficult economic times, Jeffers said.

She said that the agents will be educated on the different elements of the tourism product, with the aim of building destination awareness in order to increase their effectiveness in selling the destinations.

President Of Taiwan Arrives In Belize With 210-Member Entourage

By Oscar Ramjeet
Caribbean Net News Special Correspondent

BELMOPAN, Belize – The President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou, and his wife, Chow Mei-ching, are leading a 210-member entourage to Belize via private aircraft on Wednesday, officials of the Embassy of Taiwan in Belize.

Ma Ying-Jeou, AFP PHOTO
The Embassy of Taiwan in Belize's Second Secretary Douglas Chang and other senior officials met with Belize Press Office director Seth Hernandez to brief the Belize media.

According to Amandala media on Tuesday, Chang disclosed that 40 government officials and over 40 journalists from the public and sectors are on the list of delegates. Apart from them, sixteen performers from Ju Percussion Group will accompany the distinguished party.

Reports from Belize state that, even though the Ju team will bring the flamboyance of Taiwan's dance, music and drama, the highlight of the visit will be the signing of a technical co-operation agreement between Belize and Taiwan, and the groundbreaking for the Information and Communications Technology Centre on Mountain View Boulevard in Belmopan.

Amandala reported that, despite the fact that Taiwan's state-owned company, Chinese Petroleum Corporation (CPC), has a substantial oil exploration concession for offshore Belize, officials from the Embassy and the Belize Press Office claimed, when asked, that oil is not on the agenda.

There are 1,000 Taiwanese living in Belize and President Ma will host a dinner for the Taiwanese community at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City.

President Ma will pay a courtesy call on the Governor General Sir Colville Young before he proceeds to the National Assembly Building for a ceremonial joint Sitting of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

President Ma, who is a graduate of Harvard Law School, the same university attended by US President Barack Obama, is fluent in English.

On Thursday afternoon, the technical co-operation agreement will be signed and ground broken for the ICT Centre, after which Ma heads back to the Belize City for a state dinner.

Before serving of the evening meal, he and Prime Minister Barrow will exchange top national honours. Ma receives the Order of Belize while Barrow receives the Order of Propitious Clouds with Special Grand Cordon.

After Belize's visit President Ma will go to Guatemala and on Monday June 1 he will travel to El Salvador for the inauguration of that country's new president, Mauricio Funes.

New Document Requirements Coming For Canada Travel

Minnesotans will have to pack a passport for a trip to Canada starting this summer.

New document requirements for entering the United States by land or sea take effect June 1.

That means travelers will need a passport, passport card or special preapproved card from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Michigan, Vermont, New York and Washington state offer enhanced driver's licenses that can be used as border crossing documents, but Minnesota doesn't.

Customs and Border Protection is encouraging travelers to apply for passports or the other approved secure documents several weeks before they will need them, but says they won't be denied entry on June 1 if they don't have them.

Children under age 16 can get into the country with a birth certificate.

Sell What You Love!

By Harry Dalgaard

We get calls all the time from our valued travel agency partners asking for suggestions about how to cope with the current economic situation, so I thought I would share some of the things we tell them. These days it may seem like your clients are running into their closet and closing the door -- but for every 10 who say they are simply not interested in travel today, there are at least a few who are open to suggestions. That’s why it pays to develop a targeted plan for those few. You see I mentioned the word “targeted,” because it will probably not be very effective for you to contact your seasoned traveler clients with a “cookie cutter” travel program that they already know about. “Been there, done that!”

Here’s where your imagination and experience pays off. Think about the memorable travel experiences you have loved over the years and use that as a base to start your plan. Perhaps it was a cruise to a very unique location, a visit with the locals at a destination, a trip that included special dining experiences, or a stay in some special venue, such as a castle or lodge. Maybe it was a visit to a special exhibit at a famous art museum -- something that has appeal for everyone who loves art – or a biking or walking adventure Tuscany or another place like it, or an eco-adventure to experience the earth’s natural wonders.

Check out your client’s past travel history to give you a clue about their interests. You have valuable information about that client -- and now is your opportunity to put that information to work for you. Then send them a personal note or an email that describes a trip or a selection of trips that reflect those interests. Reference the fact that you have checked out their travel history and think your selection will appeal to them.

One tip: don’t try to solicit every person on your contact list. You will just get frustrated and the information will tend to get watered down and won’t be targeted. You might plan to create just five or six trip suggestions each day. This is a case where a little effort every day builds your path to success.

The effort you put into creating this type of special communication with your client pays off two ways. Of course, you hope that your client books a trip -- now or in the future. Just as important, however, it demonstrates the fact that you are sensitive to your client’s needs and helps build a relationship of trust.

Many times agents tell me that they are surprised about the reaction to this type of targeted solicitation. It is conventional wisdom in the travel industry that it takes deals to motivate clients, but motivating a client to purchase is more about value than low price. The value proposition speaks to your client’s intrinsic interests. What turns one traveler on may be “ho-hum” to another.

One traveler may feel more comfortable with a hotel stay right in the heart of a large city, which provides easy access to sightseeing highlights and well-known restaurants. Another client may prefer staying just outside the congested metropolitan area, which might make it possible to find a more intimate lodging opportunity. It also may offer the chance to have meals at a small local restaurant where your clients can have conversations with the owner about both the destination and the culture of the country. As a travel agent, you may have found one of those encounters the most memorable event of a trip you have taken, and it is something you can share with your client when you make contact.

There are tools available to help you implement your plan. For cruises, it’s a good idea to check into the ports visited and the interesting things you have personally experienced in that destination. If more than one couple is traveling, it’s a great idea to get a private driver who can also be their guide. The cost may be somewhat more than booking the bus trip offered by the cruise line, but there is no comparison in the benefits involved. Again, you should keep in mind that your client most of all expects value and a memorable experience.

To make a land experience special for your client, you may want to create an FIT. It is surprisingly easy to do. Today there are many tools available -- both online and offline -- to help you custom-tailor an itinerary. You don’t have to spend hours planning the trip and wait for days to get your hotel and air confirmations. It really can be fun to craft a trip for your client that includes wonderful things to see and do – sharing with your client the very special travel experiences you have loved or would love to do. So share your passions with your clients and they will share theirs with you.

2009 Caribbean Fam Trips Travel Agents Eyes Only

Elite Island Resorts 2009 Caribbean Fam Trips

Ugh! I get tons of these. This is a notice of a "FAM" trip in the Caribbean. These prices are for Agents only. It's one of the ways resorts get agents to become familiar with their resorts and it's services.

For those of you that have not received this, "You're Welcome." For those of you who Love to travel but are unable to take advantage of an offer like this, You're In The Right Place At The Right time.

If you like to travel, "Why Aren't You getting Paid To Travel?" Why don't Resorts email you and ask you to visit their resort at reduced rates. I can't begin to tell you the package the 5 Star Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas offers Travel Agents. But the travel benefits don't end there for the Work At Home Travel Agent.

Hotels, Airlines, Disney, Cruise Lines, They are all in the same , ah hum... boat! Travel Agents are the Life's Blood of the Travel Industry. Sure you can book a trip on a website, but a web site is not a person. It can't perform any other service than to make reservations for you. And if there is a problem, it helps to have a Travel Agent you can call that will get involved.

Become A Travel Agent and Work From Home. Membership has it's benefits. Yes, you can create an Income. Help others to do the same and build a residual income. You're online now and not getting paid or traveling at half price.

Are you about to take a trip? Do you know anyone about to take a trip. If you can save them money, wouldn't they rather buy it from you? If you travel with a group of friends, wouldn't it be nice to arrange the trip and get paid for it?

What about that Non Profit Organization you've always wanted to help. Did you know Cruise lines hold rooms available for Non Profit agencies? Did you know Cruise lines will match the donation you make to the Non Profit Organization? And guess what, you still get paid. You can contribute that also if you choose. Well I've talked enough. Click on any of these links and sign up for my mailing list. I'll tell you all about my business and how you can work from anywhere there is an Internet connection.
