Handful of Hotels Offer e-Readers to Guests

MIAMI - Never mind wi-fi or even iPod docking stations. The latest digital accessory to be offered by hotels is an e-reader.

EPIC, a luxury property in Miami open since December, is one of a handful of hotels now offering e-readers for guest use. Others include the Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan, which has been offering Kindles since last fall, and Gansevoort hotels in New York and Turks&Caicos.

At the Gansevoort hotels, the e-readers are preloaded with a selection of classics and bestsellers. The Algonguin Kindles come preloaded with a titles penned by members of the Round Table, a literary group that lunched at the hotel in the mid-20th century, along with other topical selections. For Father's Day, the Algonquin offered Barack Obama's "Dreams from My Father" on the e-readers.

EPIC, part of the Kimpton chain, is providing Sony Readers to guests on its club level (top two floors) and to those using the pool deck. Each e-reader is preloaded with a new title from a variety of genres.

Travel Tips From A Professional Traveler

When you travel, whether it is a business trip or a vacation or holiday trip you need to get hold of a few tips.

First of all if it is vacation or holiday trip you want to know where you are going. You want to go to a place where you can relax on the beach, or maybe you want to go to a place where you can just stay inside your hotel room and sleep all day and not be bothered, maybe there is a chance that you want to go to a place just to do shopping.

In any of these scenarios you want to find a place that suits you, so you will not go to Russia if you want to lie on the beach and take in the sun's rays. You will not go to Egypt if you are looking to do shopping for designer outfits or cheap electronic equipment, and you will not go to the running of the bulls in Spain if you are looking to relax and sleep all day.

These are just things that you will need to take into consideration, do you want to sleep, do you want a beach, do you want to shop and if you want to do all of these things, what is the perfect place?

So a good list of travel tips is needed:

On a business trip you do not have a choice as to where you have to go, and if your company is paying for the flight fees and the hotel chances are that you really do not have a choice as to which flight to catch, or which hotel to stay in. However, you can make a few choices of your own, like what clothes to take, what book to read on the plane, and what to pack. Also, if you find that you will have a few minutes, or any hour to spare in between meetings then you could use that time to do other things, like shopping, sleeping or relaxing on the beach.

Maybe you always wanted to take in a play at the theater. If you find that you have a few hours to play with, make sure that you find a few travel tips for the city you are going to.

You will look for things like what to do, where to go, what to see, and things like this. Look for things that just generally interest you. Before you leave for your flight, make sure that you have everything written down, because if our only have a few hours to spend you do not want to spend the bulk of them looking for thing to do in the city you are in.

Take with you names and numbers to taxi or cab services, emergency numbers for that city, make sure that your cell phone can roam and do not forget to take your charger with.

A Travel to Antarctica Is An Escapade Similar To No Other

The best time of the year to visit Antarctica is during the summer months of December to March. The weather is much better during this period as compared to the rest of the year. Plus, you get to experience how it feels like to have the sun shining down on you 20 hours of the day, not to mention a the opportunity to see a “midnight sun”.

A typical Antarctic cruise lasts for less than two weeks and you’ll be quite surprised at how fast the days fly when you’re actually there already marveling at the wonders of this isolated continent.

So what can you expect from a travel to Antarctica?

Not much but rather plenty! You’ll never get enough of the scenery, the landscape, and the wildlife. There just too much going on in this spot in the world. Don’t let the vast expanse of the snow-covered landscape fool you. The biodiversity in the Antarctic continent will surprise you.

During the early summer months, you can bear witness to awesome penguin courting rituals as well as elephant and fur seals starting their breeding territories in the ice. By midsummer, the ice and snow are melting allowing for more exploration closer to the land. Also, the days are longer permitting for some wonderful opportunities for photography. In the late summer, whale watching is at its best as these gentle giants begin their arrival from their annual migration trips.

Make sure your ship or your tour company is a member of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO). It is a volunteer organization which promotes a safe and environmentally responsible Antarctic experience. Behaviors when disembarking at various landing sites as well as the sizes of the vessels allowed to enter the Antarctic waters are laid out for guidance of the operators and the passengers.

To make your travel to Antarctica a journey like no other, book yourself into a cruise or ship with passengers of less than a hundred. Only 100 individuals are allowed to be landed at one place at a time.
