LONDON, England (AFP) -- Grammy-winning British singer Amy Winehouse was taken to hospital during her prolonged holiday in St Lucia after fainting, her spokesman said.
The 25-year-old "Back to Black" and "Rehab" songstress was kept in for a night for observation after tests showed she was dehydrated.

Her British-based publicist Chris Goodman said: "She fainted at home (in St Lucia) and they took her in for observation, mainly to do with her medication to check everything was OK. They told her that she was dehydrated and needed to drink more water."
Winehouse had been "running around" with a group of children before she passed out, he said.
The singer has had a well-publicised struggle with drugs, but has appeared to have been in improved health in recent months after turning her back on the London party scene and holing up on the Caribbean island.
Her spokesman confirmed that Winehouse has obtained an injunction banning paparazzi taking photographs outside her London home.
Photographers are barred from following or approaching her within 100 metres (yards) of the house.
CASTRIES, St Lucia -- At the recently held Jazz in the South hosted by Labowi Promotions in St Lucia, the Rhea Drakes Trio had the crowd singing and dancing along to their jazzy rhythms. The trio is lead by classical and jazz pianist, Rhea Drakes who is born of St Lucian and Barbadian parentage and also comprises Kirk Layne - bass guitarist and Petra Welch - drummer.
During the trio's hour long presentation at the Rudy John Beach Park, Drakes played distinct jazz rhythms to several popular Caribbean tunes including "Waiting in Vain" by Bob Marley, "Charlotte Street" by pannist Ray Holman and "Roxy Round-about" was a tribute piece dedicated to the memory of pianist Adrian Clarke who passed away last year.
In a specail interview with Caribbean Net News, Drakes said she was overwhelmed with joy and love from the audience and the trio thoroughly enjoyed performing to the participatory crowd. Drakes also indicated that she is looking forward to perform on main stage jazz in the future.
In 2004, she performed her debut concert with the Rhea Drakes Trio in St Lucia under the patronage of Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy. Then the following year she performed with International pannist Ray Holman at the 2005 Barbados Pan Festival. Later that year, Rhea was one of the winners of the Caribbean Court of Justice song competition where she performed the winning song at The Court’s Inauguration ceremony in Trinidad and Tobago.
She was also one of the featured pianists in the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation 2007 Music Makers television series. Drakes has also performed in the United States, Canada, The Barbados Pan Festival 2007 with the Ray Holman Quintet and at The 2007 Martinique Jazz Festival with the Luther Francois Quintet.

Set to perform on Pigeon Island's main stage on Thursday, May 7 will be Jamaica's Original Wailers, the former reggae band of Bob Marley; Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo from Benin; and the popular French Antillean group Kassav.
On Friday, May 8, Amy Winehouse, KC and the Sunshine Band and local singer Shayne Ross have been confirmed.
Saturday's line-up features the legendary George Duke who will team with Grammy winners Bebe Winans and James Ingram as well as Jeffrey Osborne and Teddyson John. Also on Saturday's program are "Boo" Hinkson, Michel Aubertin, Estelle and Michael McDonald.
George Duke returns on Sunday to support performances by Grammy winners Patti LaBelle and Chaka Khan as well as local singing sensation Nicole David. The UK-based Fate Sister; a local Pan Jazz band with Allison Marquis; famous American rock band Chicago; and reggae sensation Beres Hammond complete the line-up.
Slated for the indoor venue at Gaiety in Rodney Bay on Tuesday, May 5 are Jamaica's Monty Alexander Jazz and Roots as well as a Dean Fraser ensemble. On Wednesday, May 6 at Gaiety, The Luther François and Emerson Nurse Quintet from St Lucia as well as Barbara Cadet and Frenchman Khalid Kouhen will take center stage.

The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, in Naples, Fla., will again host its “SummerJazz on the Gulf” concert series.
This will mark the 24th consecutive year of the free concert series. Each concert is held on the resort’s Watkins Lawn overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. “SummerJazz on the Gulf” will take place one Saturday evening per month June to September, and each concert will be from 7 to 10 p.m.
This year’s concerts will be on June 13, July 18, Aug. 22 and Sept. 19, 2009. In conjunction with each concert, The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club will offer a special “SummerJazz Room Rate” for concert goers who wish to stay at the resort on those evenings.
