Jamaican Vacations: Perfect For Your Next Romantic Getaway ~ "I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW" JIMMY CLIFF

brought to you by: AHMTRAVEL.COM

Are you and your spouse or your romantic partner looking to take a vacation together, namely a romantic getaway? If you are, have you already decided on your next romantic getaway destination? If you have yet to determine where you would like to travel to, you will want to take a few minutes to examine Jamaica. Jamaica is well-known as a popular vacation destination, especially among those who are looking for romance.

As nice as it is to hear that Jamaica is well-known as being a popular destination for those on romantic getaways, you may still be wondering if Jamaica is right for you. If you are, there are a number of important questions that you may want to take the time to ask yourself. A few of these questions are outlined below and they may help you decide if a Jamaican vacation, particularly a romantic getaway, is right for you.

Perhaps, the most important question that you should ask yourself is what you are looking for in a romantic getaway with your partner. For instance, are you looking for adventure or romance? What is nice about Jamaica is that you can get both. There are an unlimited number of activities that you can participate in, as well as attractions that you can visit that are both adventurous and romantic in nature. For instance, you can spend the day on a scuba diving adventure, a snorkeling adventure, or you spend the day horseback riding. When on a Jamaican romantic getaway, your options are, literally, endless.

In addition to what you would like to get out of your romantic getaway, in terms of activities to participate in and attractions to visit, it is also important you focus on what creates romance for you. For instance, there are some individuals who prefer tropical weather, like the weather that can be found in Jamaica. On the other hand, there are actually those who prefer colder temperatures, like those that can be found in Alaska. If you are looking to create romance with warm, sunny, and tropical weather filled days, Jamaica may be your best bet. The weather of Jamaica has been known to create romantic environments for many.

Another question that you should ask yourself, when examining where your next romantic getaway vacation destination should be, is what you envision your overnight accommodations to be like. If you are interested in staying in an upscale resort or one that is ideal for those looking to create romance, you may like what you find in Jamaica. In Jamaica, Jamaican vacation resorts come in a number of different formats. Of course, it is possible to find Jamaican vacation resorts that are designed for individuals of all ages, but you can also find Jamaican vacation resorts that are restricted to adults only and those that have romantic suites and rooms for their guests.

In keeping with your preferred overnight accommodations, it is also important to know that many vacation resorts in Jamaica are considered all-inclusive vacation resorts or even super-inclusive vacation resorts. These are vacation resorts that allow you to make multiple travel arrangement and vacation reservations all at the same time. Most super-inclusive Jamaican vacation packages, as well as all-inclusive ones, include the cost of your foods, drinks, and many of the activities that you would like to participate in, like scuba diving.

If you are married, did you know that you may be able to take your next Jamaica vacation to the next level? When purchasing all-inclusive vacation packages or super-inclusive vacation packages, many vacation resorts give you the option of reviewing your vows, often free of charge. Of course, the decision as to whether or not you and your spouse want to renew your vows is your decision to make, but it is at least something that you should consider. After all, what could be more romantic than renewing your vows in an upscale Jamaican vacation resort or along the coastline?

If you would like to purchase your next Jamaican vacation reservations right now and if you would like to do so in the form of a super-inclusive vacation package or an all-inclusive vacation package, you are urged to examine AhmTravel.com. AhmTravel.com is your one stop resource for everything Jamaica, including a large selection of vacation packages designed for couples, like you, looking for romance.

Don't Like Climbing A WaterFall, How about a River Raft?

Perhaps climbing a waterfall isn't for everyone. Maybe a relaxing River Raft trip is more like it. Rafts made of aged dried "Bamboo" were used to float "Sugar Cane" crops down river. It was Errol Flynn that suggested they put seats on them and take tourist down river.~ Arthur Williams

brought to you by: AHM Travel

Jamaica has always been a special place since Errol Flynn, Noel Coward, Ian Fleming made it famous over 70 years ago. It has always been the first place people will name when asked about an island in the Caribbean.

In truth Jamaica has it all, which means a Jamaica Vacation or a Jamaica Honeymoon will be something extra special.

Just what makes Jamaica extra special is the real question, and this Jamaica Travel Guide will try to supply some of the answers. There are beaches to die for, mountains, and the most incredible red sunsets anywhere in the world, but that by itself is probably not enough to make you want to take a Jamaica vacation or honeymoon.

There is no doubt it is quite unlike other Caribbean islands close by in that it really does cater for a broad range of tastes. After all where else caters for everything from the idle beach bum to the wealthy, the honeymooner who wants isolation to the party goer who is looking for an all action resort.

Jamaica, regarded by many as the most beautiful Caribbean Island is the ideal place for a tropical vacation. When you look at the many differing types of people who go on holidays to the Caribbean, they all have different ideas of a perfect tropical vacation. When you look at Jamaica and see lushly covered mountains, waterfalls cascading down onto beautiful white sand beaches, exotic flowers, and activities to suit all. Jamaica is a well developed tourist island, so if you want to play tennis or golf you can, scuba diving isn't a problem, and if you are a night owl then there is everything from piano bars to limbo shows.

The only area that isn't well developed is shopping, so husbands and men generally can be relieved to know that Jamaica is not a shoppers paradise - Yet!!

Choosing when to travel to Jamaica is an important part of a Jamaica Travel Guide, and Jamaica really has an idyllic climate so it is a year round tropical vacation destination. The average temperature is 77degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 82 degrees in the summer. The coastal plains in the north get the benefit of the trade winds that blow from the Atlantic , and then there tends to be a breeze morning and evening caused by cooling and heating of the land.

It rains in May, and from August to October, but to be fair it doesn't rain every day, and the showers only last a couple of hours maximum.

To make use of any Jamaica Travel Guide you need to know what type of tropical vacation you are planning. Do you intend to travel on your own, or as a couple, or in a group. Jamaica has a huge variety of places to stay , enough things to do to satisfy even the most diverse of tastes. It really doesn't matter if you are a bunch of college students, honeymooners, or a family there is something for you. Getting married in Jamaica is very affordable, especially if you avoid the peak season from Late December to Late April when accommodation costs are at their maximum.

The type of accommodation you are looking for will be available, unless you must travel at peak season when early booking is essential, but then Jamaica isn't any different to any other Caribbean Island. Here you will find everything from Casual bed and breakfasts to inns with old world charm. There are super all inclusive resorts to luxury villas, in fact Jamaica has it all and more.

Then there is the small issue of what do you want to see and do. You can easily spend a week sipping pina coladas on a beach or by a pool, lying in a hammock under a palm tree with a good book. On the other hand you could go scuba diving, or river rafting, horse riding, or play golf on world class courses. Jamaica has something for all in the way of attractions and activities to keep you as busy or as idle as you want to be.

This Jamaica Travel Guide can only touch on this tropical vacation destination, but it is obvious that Jamaica is one unique and incredible Caribbean Island.

You Haven't Lived Until You've Climbed A Waterfall

The Natural Wonders Of Ocho Rios, Jamaica

An island nation, Jamaica offers a wealth of natural beauty. Ocho Rios, Jamaica, is home to some of the most well-known of the island’s natural wonders, including a glistening waterfall that attracts visitors from all over and the opportunity to swim with dolphins.

Dunn’s River Falls offers a hiking experience that allows even the decidedly non-athletic to enjoy a beautiful view of the 600 foot high waterfalls. However, while the 900 foot climb to the top may seem like a cake walk to the experienced hiker, for those not accustomed to activities, caution should be taken and children should be monitored carefully to avoid injury.

With that being said, however, the experience is one not to be missed. The views alone are worth the walk. There are areas at the bottom and along the hiking path for wading and splashing in the cold and very clear mountain water.

At Dolphin Cove, visitors can enjoy up close and personal interaction with a family group of bottle nose dolphins. Located near Ocho Rios, at one of the most beautiful natural coves in Jamaica, the setting is lush and green, placed in the midst of 4 acres of rain forest.

There are three types of dolphin experience packages available, allowing visitors to choose the degree of interaction best suited to their comfort zone and experience. These include the opportunity to swim and interact with a group of dolphins, another that provides in water interaction with a single dolphin and another which is called a touch encounter package, which is best suited for non-swimmers and children. The traveler should make contact well in advance for individual package rates and to make reservations, as spots are limited.

Dolphin Cove also features other attractions, including a jungle walk trail, while not too physically challenging, offers a fascinating look at local flora and fauna. This is a particularly nice destination for children as there is ample opportunity to have an up close view of brightly colored birds and reptiles. Pristine beaches, perfect for those who enjoy the sun and sand, but not the crowds, and kayaking are also available to visitors, as well as a waterfall that is sure to be less crowded than Dunn’s River Falls.

At Cranbrook Flower Forest and Riverhead Adventure Trail, which is open daily from 9am to 5pm, tourists can explore the grounds of this restored water mill. Its greenhouses and grounds are home to many varieties of flowers, including numerous types of orchids. Horseback riding is available, and is the perfect way to enjoy traveling the trails. Admission for $6 and $3 for children under 12 and horseback riding rates are $30 for 2 hours.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica, is surrounded by surprising natural beauty. Surprising, in that so many of these natural wonders are found in the midst of the bustling businesses of the tourist industry. Yet, despite the large amount of commercialism, the natural beauty still remains, often seemingly undisturbed by the unceasing flow of visitors. That which has attracted adventurers and travelers for centuries remains readily apparent and truly remarkable.

DJ Bounty Killa Arrested for Assault in Montego Bay Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica (Reuters) -- Jamaican reggae and dance hall star Bounty Killa was arrested on assault and other charges on Thursday for an altercation with an off-duty policeman nearly two years ago. Police said Bounty Killa, whose real name is Rodney Pryce, could face a sentence of 15 years in prison if convicted.

Pryce was charged after a lengthy probe into the beating of a police officer on September 27, 2007, by members of the DJ's entourage.

Investigators said a vehicle belonging to Pryce was being used to block a road while the music star stopped to acknowledge some fans. When the officer asked Pryce and his followers to clear the road, he was beaten, they said, and Pryce threatened him with a gun.

Pryce was charged with assault, unlawful wounding and illegal possession of a firearm.

Bounty Killa was arrested in July 2008 on a charge of using profanity during a performance at a reggae festival in Montego Bay. He later pleaded guilty and was fined $70.

Montego Bay has always been the Tourism Capital of JAMAICA and nobody can take that away from them. Because the Montegonians are proud people, always different from the Kingstonians, the Big City people; They call themselves "The Republic" and "The Friendly City" and that's what it is.

Montego Bay is the capital of the Parish of St. James and the second city in Jamaica. When Columbus sailed into the area in May 1494 he was the first European visitor. He made friends with some of the local Tainos, and called the Bay " El Golfo the Buen Tiempo".

The Spanish began to settle in Montego Bay after 1510 in the area of the Fort and they called the Bay "Bahia de Mantega" because of the large quantities of pigs' lard they exported to their colonies in South America and the West Indies. With the British occupation of Jamaica in 1655, St. James was among the second group of Parishes founded in1671.

Montego Bay was a small town for the first part of the 18th century, and up until 1788 was exempt of taxes, but that soon changed.
Some time after 1720 Captain Jonathan Barnett sub-divided a portion of his sugar cane fields and created Charles Town, with Charles Square now called Sam Sharpe Square, and Barnett Town. This resulted in the rapid expansion of the town and its commercial waterfront, as during this time most trade and communication was by sea.

SHOPPING

Duty-free and other quality shops selling clothing, Blue Mountain Coffee, records, cigars, Jamaican rum and liquors, postcards and other fine merchandise are located at the Half Moon Shopping village:This beautiful garden complex is home of the only official Bob Marley exhibition in Montego Bay and houses several fine restaurants and an authentic English pub. Other shopping opportunities exist at the Cruise Ship Terminal and at the Montego Freeport Shopping Centre adjacent to the Port.

CURRENCY
Official currency is the Jamaican dollar, the current exchange rate is about US$ 1.00 - JA$ 46.50 but this can fluctuate, change at banks and exchange bureaus only. US dollars are widely accepted and major credit cards are also commonly used.

City Centre:
Opportunities for shopping, one of the most popular pastimes of cruise passengers, are abundant in Montego Bay. There is a moderately priced pier to downtown shuttle, dropping passengers off at the City Centre Shopping Mall, which enables those who are looking for the finest in duty free merchandise, to avail themselves of the highest quality jewelry, watches, perfumes, leather goods, linens, crystal, electronic components, photographic and video equipment, pens and much more.Shops located at this facility are "guaranteed shops" enabling passengers to return merchandise for whatever reason. Also within the City Centre are shops that offer T-shirts, cigars, Blue Mountain Coffee and a wide selection of items that are of interest to visitors.

TRANSPORTATION:
Major tour companies with luxury coaches and uniformed drivers and guides will arrange group excursions and they include: CCS Tours, Caribic Vacations, Jamaica Tours, Sunholiday, Tropical Tours and Exlusive Holidays.

Taxis and buses:
available for hire at the Cruise or Airport from the associated drivers (owner members of JUTA and JCAL licensed by the JTB, with a set fare structure, uniformed drivers). Shuttle bus: service from the cruise ship pier to downtown City Centre Shopping Mall for US $ 2.-per person each way

Air tours:
See Jamaica by air. Charter flights available by arrangement in fixed wing craft from Timair or by Helicopter from Helitours. Scheduled inland air service by Air Jamaica Express and Air Negril.

HOT TIPS
Please be reminded that the use and/or possession of drugs: ganja, cocaine or other drugs is against Jamaican Law. Please don't use or export !

During large events when a big crowd gathers, there can be some elements who take advantage of the situation, pick-pockets! Take precautions, do not take valuables, airline tickets, passports and other important documents with you.

Take only the amount of money you think to spend for the day, lock your other valuables in the Hotel safe. Hold on to photo cameras and never leave your belongings unattended. Ask a friend to look after them.

Better safe than sorry...

Mary Mary Jamaica Update and Mini Concert / How To Choose Where To Stay In Jamaica

brought to you by: AHMTRAVEL.COM

Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean, situated just south of Cuba. Jamaican generosity is well renowned all over the globe. he Caribbean island is famous for coffee, music, rum and many picturesque beaches. Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Negril are Jamaica's main beaches and all of them are attractive and famous for plain turquoise Caribbean waters. Jamaica offers both lushly landscaped tropical resorts, or beachside resorts tropically landscaped. In any event, the only reason to leave a Jamaican resort is to sightsee.

You can laze around in the plentiful sunshine and can watch out at the never-ending sea. Sipping traditional Jamaican cocktails is a delight on Jamaica beaches. The beaches in Negril are long spread with up to 7 miles of white sands.

Negril is one of the major tourist destinations of Jamaica. The beach is world famous for its seven-mile stretch of white sand. Negril is the perfect place to enjoy a Caribbean vacation. Black River Safari is a popular attraction in Negril . Discover the beauty of the South Coast with a 1/12 hour boat tour by motor launch up Jamaica's largest navigable river and through what is amaica's largest wetland area, the Black River lower morass. A basic tour takes you six miles up the river and returns, during which a running commentary is given by your captain/ tour guide on both the ecology and a little history of the area. Over 100 species of birds have been recorded in the Black River morass and many are seen during your trip. The endangered American Crocodile inhabits the area and sightings are frequent.. The wetland vegetation is of special interest with three species of mangrove, Thatch palms, Royal palms and freshwater swamp forest dominating.

Young people really enjoy Negril as the perfect break vacation destination. Here you can enjoy sports.. Most of our visiting students relax in under an umbrella with a cold drink on a beach of their choosing.. The nightlife in Negril Jamaica is unparalleled. At nights on Negril beach, there
are beach parties or open-air bars as most beaches lead up to some of Negril's Finest Hotels. During the day you can go for a dip in quiet waters of Black river, or can tour the Appleton Estate to see and taste how rum is made.

Ocho Ríos (nickname Ochie), Spanish for Eight Rivers, is a town on the northern coast of Jamaica, located in the parish of Saint Ann. It is a popular tourist destination, well known for scuba diving and other water sports. Ocho Rios is one of the fastest growing towns in the Caribbean with a population of about 96,000 people. Ocho Rios was once a fishing village until it was discovered and is now a popular tourist destination in the Caribbean as well as a famous stop for cruise ships going into the Caribbean. It is only second in importance to the tourism industry of Jamaica. Ocho Ríos is also known as the home of Dunn's River Falls. This is a popular attraction that is visited by thousands of visitors each year. Dunn's River Falls cascades down approximately 695 feet into the sea. Visitors take pleasure in 'climbing' the falls, which are fed by springs located in the hills above, as the refreshingly chilled water rushes around them. Ocho Rios is mountainous and famous for it's Blue Mountains. A tour of Ocho Rios takes you on a trip through flora, fauna, fruits and spices of the Blue Mountains. Of course you can also visit where the world-renowned Blue Mountain coffee is grown.

Montego Bay (nickname MoBay) is another crowded tourist destination of Jamaica, where to can take a short trip and go Bamboo River rafting on the Marta Brae or go swimming under the waterfalls of Dunn's River. Jamaica was always a special place for actor Errol Flynn. It is said that he saw farmers floating sugar cane down the river on rafts and suggested that they put seats on them and carry people. Now river raft piloting is a trade passed down from father to son. Each rafter makes his own raft of bamboo that he cuts himself. Visits to Jamaica by other Hollywood icons such as Noel Coward, Ian Fleming made it famous over 70 years ago. It has always been the first place people will name when asked about an island in the Caribbean. Jamaicans say that if you have visited more than once, then you are Jamaican!

The only area that isn't well developed is shopping. Jamaica is not a shoppers paradise, yet. But Jamaica is a port for cruise ships. As a matter of fact, most cruise ships take on dinking water in Jamaica as the islands water is so pure. And where there are cruise ships, there is shopping. There are shopping malls in Jamaica. You can think of them more in terms of Strip Malls.
There you can buy everything from Jewelry to Cuban Cigars that you better smoke before leaving the island. (still illegal at this writing)

Choosing when to travel to Jamaica is important. Jamaica really has an idyllic climate so it is a year round tropical vacation destination. The average temperature is 77degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 82 degrees in the summer. The coastal plains in the north get the benefit of the trade winds that blow from the Atlantic , and then there tends to be a breeze morning and evening caused by cooling and heating of the land. It rains in May, and from August to
October, but to be fair it doesn't rain every day, the showers only last a couple of hours maximum, and the prices are better during this time of year.

To make use of any Travel Agent, or even your own travel plans, you need to know what type of tropical Jamaican vacation you are planning. Do you intend to travel on your own, or as a couple, or in a group. Jamaica has a huge variety of places to stay , enough things to do to satisfy even the most diverse of tastes. It really doesn't matter if you are a bunch of college students, honeymooners, or a family there is something for you. Getting married in Jamaica is very
affordable, especially if you avoid the peak season from Late December to Late April when accommodation costs are at their maximum. Visit our Jamaican Honeymoon Registry, Click Here!

The type of accommodation you are looking for will be available, unless you must travel at peak season when early booking is essential, but then Jamaica isn't any different to any other Caribbean Island. Adios Mexico! Jamaica and St. Thomas Picking Up Mexico's Tourism Dollars

The European Union is not planning to ban travel to Mexico because of the outbreak of swine flu there, diplomatic sources said Thursday at an emergency meeting of EU health ministers in Luxembourg.

Individual member states have the right to bring in travel restrictions if they think this will help prevent the disease spreading, but the EU as a whole is not going to bring in a ban, diplomatic sources said.

Ahead of the meeting, France was the most vocal of a number of EU member states calling for a blanket ban on flights to Mexico, arguing this would limit the spread of swine flu across Europe.

'France is proposing a ban on flights going to the most important flu area, that is, a ban on flights to Mexico,' French Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot said as she arrived at the meeting.

'It is clear that a ban on flights coming from Mexico could be counter-productive, as attempts to avoid it could make it harder to trace people who might be infected,' she said.

But member states such as Germany, Spain and Britain opposed any such move, arguing that it would not be effective, since the disease has already reached Europe.

"History of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee" ~ "Here Comes The Hotstepper" Ini Kamoze

"Here Comes The Hotstepper"
Ini Kamoze

brought to you by: AHMTRAVEL.COM

History of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee

Jamaican Flag The Arabica species of coffee is believed to be the first species of coffee to be grown and is native to Southwest Arabia. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is derived from the Arabica species of coffee.

In the early 1700’s, Mathieu Gabriel De Clieu planted the first Arabica Coffee plant on the Caribbean island of Martinique. In the mid 1700’s, the Governor of Jamaica, Sir Nicholas Lawes, imported coffee beans and the first coffee plant from the island of Martinique, specifically the Arabica species of coffee.

The Arabica coffee plant was first planted and cultivated in the hills of St. Andrew and later expanded into the blue mountains. There was steady growth for over 50 years. In the late 1700’s until the early 1800’s cultivation was at it highest peak, but in the early 1800’s to the middle 1800’s the industry experienced many ups and downs.

In 1891, legislation was created to teach the proper way to cultivate and cure Jamaican blue mountain coffee, but it was not until 1944 when such efforts were successful. In the mid 1940’s, the Jamaican government created the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica, which officially began in 1950.

Before any Jamaican blue mountain coffee was exported, it must go through the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica, where it is cleaned, graded and inspected. In 1983, the duties of the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica changed. Now the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica must approve and issue licenses to the cultivators and exporters of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.

Jamaican Blue Mountains Jamaican blue mountain coffee is harvested in the Blue Mountains in the country of Jamaica. The blue mountains are between Kingston and Port Maria on the island of Jamaica. The blue mountains of Jamaica are the highest mountains in the Caribbean, making them the ideal climate for coffee harvest. The weather is usually cool and misty with excessive rainfall, making the soil rich and fertile.

Blue Mountain coffee is recognized for its mild flavor and lack of bitterness, which is highly credited to the regulation of the cultivation process for Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. Jamaican blue mountain coffee contains less caffeine than any other commercially grown species of coffee and it takes about 7 years to mature. There are many Jamaican blue mountain coffee lovers all over the world and the coffee is rare to find. Most people buy their blue mountain coffee online at competitive prices.
Jamaican Blue Mountains

However, before purchasing Jamaican blue mountain coffee online make sure the coffee you are buying is certified by the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica. They closely monitor the growth and distribution of Jamaican blue mountain coffee. The regulations they have set forth is as follows:

*
Coffee harvested at 3000-5500 ft. would be certified as Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.
*
Coffee harvested at 1500-3000 ft. would be certified as Jamaica High Mountain coffee.
*
Coffee harvested at 1500 ft. and under would be certified as Jamaica Supreme or Jamaica Low Mountain Coffee.

Jamaica Tourism up 3 Percent

Jamaica Attracts More Visitors So Far This Year

Jamaican Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett held an impromptu press luncheon in Manhattan on Monday and spoke bullishly of Jamaica’s 3 percent visitor growth of this February over last February. So far, he says, 2009 is tracking 4 percent higher in arrivals than 2008. “Yields have not been great,” he said, “but in a buyer’s market, that’s to be expected. The UNWTO is marveling at our performance.” He pointed out that in this difficult economy, “tourism is the only growth industry in the Caribbean and it remains the No. 1 earner of foreign exchange in Jamaica. While bauxite sales have fallen 30 to 40 percent, tourism continues to maintain job security for its 80,000 direct Jamaican employees. Our biggest challenge lies in our ability to maintain airlift. Some airlines are demanding guarantees; some are requesting 50 pounds per seat.”

According to Bartlett, there are three major bidders for Air Jamaica, which is scheduled to be sold by the government by the end of March. He spoke of other airlines filling the breech left by recent Air Jamaica route cuts. “Delta will increase its service to Montego Bay out of Atlanta. U.S. gateways are well served by Delta, Continental, USAir, Jet Blue and American. Our next biggest challenge is to maintain the quality of the experience, because in a buyer’s market, value is extremely important.” He cited Sandals and SuperClubs as local brands that have had success in delivering new product that is “exciting the market.”

Bartlett described the market as a multi-tiered pyramid whose bottom tier has fallen out. “In this environment what was considered luxury is now mid-market and what was mid-market is now selling at bargain price points,” he said. “It’s hard to make predictions because we don’t know how this economic situation will play out. What’s certain is that this situation will change the architecture of tourism as we know it.” He noted that the Jamaican government is helping small hotels with tax reductions and low interest loans to help them survive.

“Some of the smaller players may be edged out. That will be inevitable if you have low yield combined with low volume. One or two developments have fallen out. The Trident Hotel refurbishment has halted but the Harmony Cove is on track. The development of Port Royal is ongoing as is the Falmouth development. Jamaica’s location, its political stability and its enormous resources still make it attractive to investors,” Bartlett said. He noted increased interest from Chinese investors who may have taken a greater notice of Jamaica after the performance of Jamaican athletes during the Beijing Olympics. “Their performance created a kind of bond between the countries,” he said.
