Cuba Travel Services will relaunch a weekly nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Havana on June 30, utilizing aircraft operated by Continental Airlines.
The company provides travel services for authorized Cuban Americans visiting family members in Cuba as well as other licensed, qualified travelers.
Michael Zuccato, Cuba Travel Services general manager, said that increased demand following the Obama administration’s recent policy changes on family travel to Cuba prompted the new West Coast service.
"We are excited to resume the nonstop flights out of Los Angeles to Havana. These flights were in high demand prior to the Bush administration’s restrictions imposed on Cuban-Americans that limited their ability to visit with their families in Cuba," said Zuccato.
The L.A.-Cuba flight first launched in 2000 but was discontinued in 2005 when travel restrictions led to low passenger loads.
Cuba Travel Services also offers a weekly nonstop flight from Miami to Havana.
The charter company operates under guidelines and criteria established by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
